PGCE, BA, MA, PHD
Head of Humanities and Social Science / Teacher of Humanities
Amy graduated from the University of Wales, Cardiff, with a BA in History and Sociology (Joint Honours). She then achieved a PGCE in Secondary Education, History with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), at the University of Sussex.
Amy has been teaching for over twenty years, in a personal ‘voyage of discovery’ which has taken her from comprehensive schools in the UK, to international schools in China and Hong Kong. She has taught a variety of curriculums, including the British Key Stage Three, GCSE and A Levels in History and Sociology, IBMYP Humanities, IGCSE History (Cambridge) and IBDP History. In addition to this, Amy has many years of pastoral experience, as a Head of Year in the UK, Senior Head of House in China and Head of Pastoral in Hong Kong. She is a strong believer in ‘every child matters’ and feels that all children develop and grow in environments where they feel cared for, supported and encouraged. Amy has also led additional student initiatives, such as the Student Council and Model United Nations, attending conferences in China, Hong Kong and Seoul.
After six years in Hong Kong, Amy is ready for new experiences, including inspiring students and encouraging them to embrace a lifelong learning for History. This is her first time in Romania and she looks forward to discovering new culture, food and places. In her spare time, Amy enjoys theatre, reading, yoga, gym classes, travelling and eating.
