Emma is a British member of staff, being born and raised in Yorkshire, England. This year, in addition to teaching Year Six, Emma is also the Deputy Head of Primary School (Years 4-6), she is a member of the Safeguarding Team, and she is responsible for coordinating the Primary School Prefects.

Emma graduated from Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent, with a Forensic Psychology honours degree. She was inspired to become a teacher after initially beginning a career in the NHS, working on a forensic unit for mentally disordered offenders. After completing a PGCE in Primary Education at Manchester Metropolitan University, she gained six years’ teaching experience in the UK. Following this, Emma has taught at an international school in Italy, and also in Bucharest, Romania, before joining BIST in 2021.

In her spare time Emma has a real passion for hiking, particularly in the mountains. She has climbed Romania’s five highest peaks and many other mountains across Europe. Emma has two pet dogs, which she rescued, and they often accompany her whilst travelling and hiking.
