Damaris is originally from the United States, but she has lived overseas since August 2007. Upon graduating from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Damaris originally planned on becoming a juvenile probation officer and working with at risk youth. After graduating, she had the opportunity to work in a tutoring capacity with young children, and she realized that teaching was her calling. Her love of traveling and teaching led her to become certified in teaching English as an additional language. Once certified, Damaris headed to Shanghai, China to officially begin her teaching career. She spent one year teaching English, and after that, Damaris started working at international schools as an Early Childhood teacher. During this time, she decided to return to school to get her master’s degree in education from Concordia University.
Damaris has taught in international schools in China, Germany, and France. She is experienced in teaching the American curriculum, the British curriculum, and the IB PYP program. She’s also experienced in teaching in a play based setting.
Damaris enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling, and learning new languages. She is excited to explore Romania and try her hand at learning the language.
