Jena
MATSON

Originally from the United States, Jen began her teaching career abroad with a BA in Anthropology and a TESOL degree. Starting in 2006, her journey took her first to Taiwan and then to Vietnam, where she taught English to students of all ages and specialized in teaching and developing ELL curriculum for early learners. In 2014 she gained insight into child-centered approaches and experienced using a blended curriculum at a top bilingual school in Istanbul, Turkey. Since then she has worked at bilingual and international schools around Thailand, continuing to deepen her passion for early childhood teaching.

Jen’s academic background is complemented by a master’s degree in Early Childhood from Concordia University. Her experience includes teaching under the UK, California, and Ontario curriculums, and she is well-versed in holistic, child-centered, and inquiry-based teaching philosophies. She is joining us from her most recent work at the Canadian International School of Thailand, where she gained valuable experience and training using the IB program for early years and Key Stage 1. Her approach includes using a growth mindset to motivate and encourage learners, helping them to achieve their goals with confidence and compassion for others.

Jen enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, and playing games with her family and friends. She looks forward to joining BIST and exploring Romanian culture.
