Deputy Head of Secondary (Academic)
PGCE, BA, MA, PHD
Teacher of Humanities
Melissa has a real passion for helping students explore the world through History, Religious Studies, and the wider Humanities. She studied History with Sociology at university and later completed her PGCE in History at the University of East Anglia. In 2011, she also earned a Master’s degree in Education.
Before becoming a teacher, Melissa spent 10 years working in a global company, gaining lots of real-world experience that she now brings into the classroom. She’s taught in several well-regarded schools in Essex and Suffolk in the UK, and between 2016 and 2018, she took a break from classroom teaching to work for a charity that trained graduates to become great teachers- something she’s still really passionate about.
Most recently, Melissa was Head of Humanities at the British School of Bucharest, where she enjoyed leading a team, developing exciting new lessons, and helping students connect what they learn in class to the world around them. While in Bucharest, she also led the school’s debating team for two years, supporting students in local and national competitions —a role she found incredibly rewarding
Now in Timisoara, she’s excited to get to know her students, be part of a new school community, and share her love of learning about the past and present-both in and out of the classroom.
